I.
Preliminary Activities (Daily Routine) Ø Opening Prayer -
Everybody
stand-up. May I request Ms. Amor to lead us the prayer Ø Greetings - Good morning class! - How’s your morning? Ø Checking of Attendancee - Say present once I call your name Ø Review -
What was our topic last meeting? -
Give at least 5 common tools used in a
computer -
What is a computer? II.
Motivation Ø Class, I have with me a set of
flashcards. I am going to show you different pictures of the parts of the
computer system unit and you’re going to guess the correct name of the
pictures that I will be showing. III.
Presentation of the Lesson Our lesson for today is about the internal parts of
computer system unit. Before we start, let me ask you first. Do you have any
idea about what is a system unit? A computer system unit holds all the other components
together and protects the sensitive electronic parts from the outside
elements. Now, I will show you a video that talks about computer
system unit and its parts. I want you to watch it properly so you will be
able to know the internal parts and function of computer system unit.
(present the video). Okay! did you get it right? I have here internal parts of computer system unit and we
will discuss it further so you can understand it well. Okay very good! (Show a part of a computer then let the students
identify) Mr. Brainard, what do you call this computer part? Very good! A motherboard is the main circuit board inside
a computer that connects the different parts of a computer. Now, Ms. Amor, what do you call this computer part? (Show
another part of a computer) Okay very good! Hard disk drive is an electro-mechanical
data storage device that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic
storage and one or more rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic
material. Next we have SSD or Solid State Drive. SSD is a new generation of storage device used in a computer which is much faster than a traditional mechanical hard disk. Mr. Jerome, What do you call this computer part? Okay very good! A RAM usually stores the user data in a program. RAM memory is volatile in the sense that it cannot retain
data in the absence of power Next we have Video Card or Graphics card. (show the part
of computer system unit) Video card is an integrated circuit that generates the video signal
sent to a computer display. It contains a graphics
processing unit (GPU), which is a processor dedicated to creating images. Next
we have ODD or Optical Disk Drive. Do you know what the purpose of this part
is? Next we have CPU fan with heatsink. Ms. Amor, what do you think is the
function of this part? Last we have LAN card. Network
card is a part of a computer that connects to a local area network (LAN) or the Internet wirelessly or
through an Ethernet cable. Those are the parts of the internal system unit. Mr. Brainard,
can you recall all the internal parts of the computer? Would you like to know how to assemble/disassemble a
computer system unit? (While presenting the video, the teacher will also
demonstrate how to assemble/disassemble computer system unit.) Now that you already know how to assemble/disassemble a system unit. I want you to perform it individually later on. Don’t worry because I will guide you. IV.
GENERALIZATION: -
Again
what is a computer system unit? -
What
are the internal parts of computer system unit? V.
EVALUATION: _____1. A memory that is volatile in the sense that it cannot retain
data in the absence of power. _____2. It connects to a local area network (LAN) or the
Internet wirelessly or through an Ethernet cable. _____3. It is the brain of the computer. _____4. An internal or external computer
disk drive that uses laser beam technology to read and write data. _____5. The main circuit board inside a
computer that connects the different parts of a computer. Okay pass your paper and let’s
check it together. VI.
Application: I will randomly call your name
and perform assemble/disassemble of computer system unit. VII.
ASSIGNEMENT: Give at
least 5 internal parts of computer system unit and describe the functions and
its importance of each part. Write it on a ½ crosswise sheet of paper. If
there’s none, let’s end our class with a prayer. Kindly lead the prayer Mr.
Brainard. Let’s
do 5s before we go out in the classroom! Good
bye class! |
Ø Present/absent Ø Philips screw driver Ø Anti-static wrist strap Ø Flashlight Ø Wire stripper Ø Crimping tool Ø A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information, or data.
